What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
Anti-Wrinkle injections relax the muscles in your face to smooth out lines and wrinkles. The brand most commonly known in the UK is BOTOX®, but Dysport®/ Azzalure and Xeomin®/ Bocouture are also licensed within the UK and used more often than the older brand of Botox. I use all 3 in my clinic depending on the client and the area being treated.
Does it hurt?
Injections are very quick, you will feel a slight stinging at the injection site. Numbing cream is available on request but is generally not required.
How long does the treatment take?
When should I expect to see the benefits and how long do the results last?

Are there any side effects?
Most clients report no side effects at all. Research shows 5% of clients may get a mild headache after the treatment. Extremely rarely do clients report a temporary eyelid weakness or brow drooping (ptosis) resulting from the injection, this will reverse over time and is a very rare side effect. Occasionally clients may notice there will be a minor asymmetry evident after the treatment, top-up treatments may help to reverse this effect but otherwise, it will resolve in time.
Is there any down time?
No, there should be no downtime after anti-wrinkle treatments. There may be some slight red bumps visible for a couple of hours post-treatment. These are coverable with makeup. Post-treatment advice will be given but clients should avoid any strenuous activity on the day of treatment as well as sauna and sunbed use. It is also advisable for clients to keep their head in an elevated position for 4 hours after treatment of the face.
